HENRIOT QUIMPER c.1930 swan-form dish: handpainted French faience

This Quimper swan ('petit cygne') is brush and sponge painted in rich cobalt blue, yellow, burnt orange and green. The centre panel is decorated with a figure of a Bretonne with basket and flowers; her face is sweet and delicately rendered. Base is marked: HenRiot Quimper France 15(?). This marks dates the piece to the period 1922-68. The capital letter 'R' in 'HenRiot' suggests 1922-25.

Condition is outstanding for faience of this age. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines. Glaze is pitted in places, typical of the time of manufacture. Swan dish measures 4.25"H x 5.25"L (front to back) x 2.5"W.
