ROYAL CROWN DERBY 'Blue Mikado' c1909 antique mini-creamer 4oz
SCARCE antique Royal Crown Derby bone china mini-creamer in 'Blue Mikado' pattern, dated 1909. This delicate piece has survived from Edwardian times. The translucent white porcelain is decorated in cobalt blue with scenes from the famous Mikado story. The rim, foot and handle are all perfectly edged in gold; the classical acanthus leaf gilded in relief on the handle. This shape was called 'Ely' (late Ferrers) in the Derby shape book from the 1950's. Today it is also known as 'Chelsea'. Osmaston Road Factory date cypher in green for 1909.
