Homer Laughlin 22K gold-stencilled 11" cake plate dating to 1920's or 30's. Rich cobalt blue border shows off the finely stencilled gold pattern to perfection. Central posy of spring flowers in crimson, cornflower blue, purple, yellow and orange with delicate green leaves. "Warranted 22 carat gold" printed in gold under green mark for 1926ff. Excellent condition for its age. Gentle wear to the gilding from handling; 1/4" chip to the underside of rim (not visible from the top). Displays beautifully. Measures 11" (top); 6.25" (base).

This is part of the MacMillan Collection, assembled in the past century by Hattie MacMillan and her daughters, Marion and Norma. Norma MacMillan was the beloved voice of Casper the Friendly Ghost. This cartoon series was created for ABC's New Casper Cartoon Show that ran from 1963 to 1969 on Saturday mornings. Norma's devoted husband, Thor Arngrim, spent his final years living at PAL Vancouver and so a portion of sales will benefit this vibrant community of creative people (see 'Favorite Links' in left hand menu bar).
