This Quimper set awaits the vintage egg cup collector! The chicken-form egg cup or coddler is paired with a small dish to make an appealing display. The single eggcup is hand-painted in blue and yellow with scattered florals. Mark underneath reads: HENRIOT QUIMPER FRANCE 118. This mark covers the period 1922-68 and the feel of the egg cup suggests the earlier part of this period. Condition is good vintage faience, with typical rubbing to edges and small pin pricks and glaze loss from time of manufacture. There are no cracks or hairlines. Measures 1.75"H x 3"L x 1.75"W.
The small dish (originally an ashtray) has been paired with the eggcup. Both are from the same time period and have similar qualities of potting and hand-painting. The dish is painted pale yellow and blue with a bright figure of a Breton at the centre. Mark underneath reads: HENRIOT QUIMPER FRANCE 69. Condition is good, a little rubbing and glaze loss on the edges. No crack or hairlines. Measures 3.75"D
