J. Dos Oil on Canvas, Covered Wagons, Tropical Landscape
Grays, browns, blacks and creams combine to make this rather dramatic oil on canvas a somber statement on hardship. The ox-drawn covered wagon is the focal point of the painting and with its billowing form seems to dominate the space. It takes on an almost surreal quality in the tropical landscape with wind driven palm trees in the background. The painting is signed in the lower right corner with what appears to be J. Dos. Size of this piece which is simply framed in wood is 23" wide and 17" high. The frame itself accounts for 2" of the dimensions.
