A. van Dyke Engraving of Children of Charles I

This is another of the A.H. Payne published engravings of master works. This one depicts three children of Charles I, Charles, James, and Henrietta with their dogs. The artist on this piece is A. van Dyke. Payne was a German publisher working in Dresden and Leipzig. He produced a number of books filled with engravings of famous European art works. Sir Anthony van Dyke was a Flemish baroque court painter who became the principal portraitist to the English royal family and set the tone for such portraits for 150 years. The image size is 6.75 x 6" and the page including margins is 11.25" x 8.5".
