Lionel Trilling, a mid-century writer, teacher, critic and member of the New York Intellectuals, wrote Freud and The Crisis of Our Culture. He is considered one of the great American critics of the 20th century. Born in 1905, died 1975. He was the first tenured Jewish professor in the English department at Columbia University. This is a good copy of his book, albeit a second edition. It is one in a series of essays that he wrote. It is signed. The only damage is a turned down corner about mid-way through the book.
