Original Gun Illustration for Popular Mechanics Magazine, c. 1970s

Another wonderful illustration by Atlanta artist Thomas Dauer who was at one time art director for Popular Mechanics Magazine in NYC. This illustration is in a dark, burled wood frame, and is approx. 17" long and 9.75" high. The image size is smaller: 10.25" x 3 3/8". The frame on this one coordinates with the color of the wood used on the gun. I have three other Dauer gun illustrations listed at the time and also a gouache of a worker at a high rise construction site. These industrial type drawings and paintings (the guns are airbrush and also pen and ink) are a neglected area in most museum collections but the talent required to produce these exacting images is considerable. Condition of these gun illustration is excellent. They were always kept in a flat file so they remain undamaged. These illustrations were acquired from the Dauer estate sale for those interested in provenance.
