Original Gun Illustration for Popular Mechanics Magazine, c. 1970s

This is another of eight original gun illustrations by an artist whose estate was dispersed last summer. The artist was art director for Popular Mechanics Magazine, as preserved on the label that was on the backs of each piece. The artist's flat files were full of a life-time of fine illustrations he had done for major corporations, magazines, private commissions, agencies associated with the space program, .and even museums. These gun illustrations were unframed, as would be expected but have recently been framed and are ready to hang. I have two, a large one and a smaller one which was previously listed, in a light, curly maple frame. An effort was made to coordinate the wood color on the gun stock with the frame. The illustration is probably a combination of pen and ink and also airbrush. I do not know who the gun manufacturer is but gun collectors will probably know. The dimensions of this framed piece are 19.5" long x 11.5" high. The Image size is 11" long and 3.5" high. The artist name is Thomas Dauer.
