Maison Sajou Needlepoint Print, 19th C. French Fabric House, Paris

Another of the hand-colored needlepoint prints with fillet framing from Maison Sajou, a fashionable fabric, needlepoint, and tapestry house of the early 1800s in Paris. This print features a cluster of plums, grapes and cherries. This print carries the embossed stamp of the fashion house (much like a corporate seal) underneath the picture. The inscription beneath the print says Maison SAJOU Paris, G. Lefevre et Cabin, fils 74 Boul & Sebastopol. The other print from this fashion house had a pass or tag beneath the print from the Universal Exposition of 1867, presumably where Maison Sajou exhibited its wares. The print is 16.75" x 17" framed and the image size is 8.75 x 9.5". Condition is excellent and the piece is newly framed with interior fillet framing setting off the print.
