This lovely and detailed print is from a large volume of Louvre masterpieces limited to 2000 editions and issued in 1900. The page size is 16.5 x 12.5" and the image size is 14" long and 10" wide. Condition is very good.
The photogravure etchings, in the limited edition from which this print is taken, are by Goupil & Cie., Paris, France. Goupil developed and utilized emerging printmaking and photographic technologies to meet a growing popular demand for affordable art reproductions and in the process, they were able to satisfy the demand they were creating. With offices based in Paris, they expanded to other cities throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas and were instrumental in creating an international art market as it is known today.
