Hard to imagine a serving plate that could be more beautiful than this stellar piece by W.T. Copeland. It is the epitome of the porcelain decorator's art with intricate geometric patterns, fancy floral garlands, star medallion center, and a luscious pale peach color behind the gold around the borders of the plate. The plate is approx. 10" in diameter but with handles is closer to 12". The condition is excellent with no chips or cracks or loss of gold. On the back of the plate are interlocking C's, an old Copeland mark and Copeland underneath. This mark dates from the 1860s to 1890s. There are also numbers as shown, and elsewhere on the back and difficult to photograph, an impressed number.
