Haviland Limoges Large Fruit Bowl Hand Painted Cherries Marseilles Blank Signed Ca. 1900
The asymmetrical shape of the bowl has a scalloped edge with gentle ruffles at each end The red cherries and green leaves are massed in several groups around the bowl. The deep colors fade into a pale lilac The ornate gold scrolled handle is surrounded by the deepest cluster of color giving a rich exuberant appearance.
The size of the bowl and the fineness of the porcelain make this a very desirable piece. The under glaze white ware green mark of Haviland , France, is circa 1894-1931. I believe it dates to early 1900-10. It is signed underneath in gold by the artist, M. Rolls, and impressed with the number 2.
The condition is very good with no loss of paint or gilding. There is a small gold skip on the bottom edge of the handle. There are no chips, nor cracks, nor restoration. A gorgeous example of French porcelain.
