Wedgwood Alfred Powell Arts & Crafts Leaping Stag Demitasse Cup & Saucer Pink Lustre Luster c. 1920s-30s
Alfred Powell hand painted the leaping or racing stags on this demitasse cup and saucer for Wedgwood. Painted in pink luster enamel underglaze, the figures have a wonderful sense of motion. The cup is 2 inches tall x 2 1/8 inches in diameter. The saucer is 4 1/4 inches in diameter. It has the Alfred Powell "AP" artist's monogram and the number 5050.

The green printed Wedgwood mark includes Etruria England/Made In England The condition is very good to excellent. There are no chips nor flakes, nor cracks. The pink luster decoration has no losses.
Both pieces have stickers indicating they came from the Born Collection. S imply a wonderful addition for Wedgwood collectors and Arts and Crafts devotees.The cup and saucer are illustrated in Maureen Batkin's "Wedgwood Ceramics 1846-1959", p.148.
