A pair of Victorian wood and gesso oval frames, each comes with a floral needlepoint. The dark mahogany glaze is applied with the raised area done with grain brushstrokes. The four raised gesso clusters model chestnuts and berry clusters. There is a gold inner border also.
The frames measure 10 1/4" wide by 12 " long. The depth is 1 1/2" which leaves the inner visible area approximately 7 1/4" by 9". They can be hung in either direction. Several tiny spots of glaze are missing on one frame and the other has a small area missing as shown in the photo.
The needlepoints are in excellent condition. They are on an ivory ground with one having roses done in shades of pink, yellow, and sepia, and blue spikes and green leaves. The other has a pink rose, blue dahlia, and yellow, brown and blue flower clusters and green leaves.
The frames date to the mid to late 19th century.
