Charles Sawyer's framed hand-colored landscape photograph "Echo Lake" in Franconia Notch New Hampshire was his most popular scene. The 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" photograph is unmatted and in its original frame. The backing is original and has the triangular logo stamp. The front shows the Sawyer signature in white ink.
The colors are vivid and the condition is excellent. The scene includes the reflection in the water of the blue sky, the snow topped mountain range and Echo Lake surrounded by deep green trees. There is a slight hint of autumn orange in the underbrush as well. Sawyer began his career in 1902 and it has been noted that his works resemble the Hudson River School of painting.
