Porcelain White and Gold Band Tea Pot Wedding Band with Fruit Finial
This white porcelain tea pot was referred to as Gold Band or Wedding Ring when it was popular from the 1850s-1900. The bright gold band circling the middle of the pot was made by both American and European manufacturers. The bulbous-pear shape of the pot flares at the rim and the high handle has a spur over the top to secure the lid while pouring. There are leaf terminals at the base of the handle. The spout is covered in gold and there is a trefoil gold design at the base of the spout.

The pot stands 9 inches high. There are drainage holes to hold back tea leaves but the pot could also be used for serving coffee. There are several tiny spots, in the making, which the decorator touched with gold. It is in very good condition with no chips, flakes, nor cracks. The only gold wear to mention is on the thumb rest at the top of the handle. The bottom is unmarked except for some lines in the glaze probably made by the decorator.
