The Lacy Glass cup plate, Benjamin Franklin, # 617, has plain rigging and a rope table ring. There is one scallop missing and an inclusion. The banner over the ship has BF and the American Flag flies. The ship is portrayed on wave striations. Circa 1830-40.
Barlow & Kaiser quoted from a 1923 article by Alice Van Leer Carrick in the Magazine Antiques: "the excursion steamship Benjamin Franklin ...carried six hundred passengers ...from Boston Massachusetts to Providence Rhode Island....This cup plate may have been sold as a souvenir on board this ship."
