Kaj Franck Blown Basket Sargasso Bubbles Nuutajarvi-Notsjo Finland Mid-Century Scandinavian Art Glass
This Kaj Franck designed colorless glass bowl with handle is signed Nuutajarvi-Notsjo. Part of the Sargasso line, this blown glass piece has thousands of bubbles. The clear strap handle contrasts with the multitude of bubbles in the bowl. Overall, there is no mistaking this for machine made as it has a hand made appearance. The pontil is ground and polished.

From the base of the bowl to the top of the handle, it is 8" h by 7 1/4" w. Where the handles are attached on the outside, you can feel slight indents and excess glass on the inside. It is circa 1960-70s.
Nuutajarvi-Notsjo is the oldest surviving glassworks in Finland. Kaj Franck was a noted designer in many mediums: textiles, glass, ceramics and furniture (L. Pina's Circa Fifties Glass). Franck worked for many of the outstanding 20th century Scandinavian companies and received numerous awards.
This bowl / basket can stand alone on your table or be filled with eggs or fruit, or whatever your imagination tells you.
