Sunbonnet Babies Wash Day 7 1/2 Inch Plate
This is a 7 1/2 inch Sunbonnet Babies plate showing Molly and May dutifully washing the clothes. It's titled Wash Day and would be the Monday theme. Originally the story of the Sunbonnet Babies was intended as a children's primer and revolved around the various chores that were traditionally done on certain days of the week. The porcelain pieces depicting this story and bearing this particular mark, the blue mark, would have been made after 1902 and up until about 1920. The condition of the plate is at the very least what I would call good. There has been no damage to the plate or repairs made. A small percentage of the gold is worn from the rim, but I see no evidence of stacking or scratches from use. At the top center of the plate, on the front, there are two small black marks which are under the glaze. They can be seen in the photo of the front. The diameter of the plate is 7 1/2 inches.
