Babcock Park in Elk River, MN is featured in this real photo post card postmarked June 9, 1949. Elk River is located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, 35 miles north of the twin cities, and judging by the width of the river in the photo I'm guessing it to be the Elk. An interesting feature of the photo is the 1936 Ford coupe convertible parked in the distance. There is also a gent in a sweater walking along the river bank and the photo is exceptionally sharp. The condition of the card is excellent. The post mark may also be a collectible, being from an R.P.O. or Rural Post Office, this one being St. P. & Miles CY. ED. R.P.O. The card is addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Virgil Grote of Red Wing, MN.
Thanks for stopping by today.
