Island Curio Company is famous among collectors of pre 1940 Hawaiian Territory post cards and here we are offering one in very near mint condition. The scene is of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Honolulu, T.H., and in the foreground, out from the beach, we see a native canoe being paddled about away from the swimmers. The card is numbered 9768 on the reverse and was Made in U.S.A. As I said, it is near mint condition, and the only reason I can't give it a mint rating is the faint white outline visible in the far lower right corner. This is the image of a paper corner hold down in the album this card was kept in for many years and very rarely seen, thus it's other wise great shape. The stamp box is a bit unique, offering "Place One Cent Stamp Here, Five Cents to Anywhere In U.S. Via Airmail." Between that and the accepted period for white border cards, I would date this card to the early 1930's.
