Hawaii and South Seas Curio Co., which later became the Island Curio Company, published post cards in Honolulu starting late in the 19th century and through the first quarter of the 20th century. They are a favorite among collectors or their historic scenes and brilliant colors. The card shown here is described on the front as "The Volcano of Kalauea, Hawaii" and is numbered on the reverse A-14765. I rate this card as Excellent. It is perfect other than very very minor corner bumps. In the scene we see five visitors to the Kalauea volcano who have ridden donkeys to arrive at the apparently fiery rim. This is a very nice quality Territory of Hawaii vintage post card that was hidden away for many years in an album with a number of other vintage H.T. cards. The colors are still brilliant and crisp, making this a desirable card for any collector of early Hawaiian post cards.
Thank you for stopping today.
