Alexander Backer Co. chalkware, Japanese man and woman in repose, he studying a text and she quietly playing a lute. Both are adorned in black robes with golden trim and the woman also has a garland of flowers in her hair, no doubt for the scent created. The pair adds an element of peace to any room and are perfect for an area set aside for meditation. Both are in very nice condition. There is a very minor issue of possible wear immediately at the front center of the round base on the woman. She is other wise free of any other wear or damage and has no repairs. The man has only two small chips in the glaze just down his arm from his left elbow and is also other wise free of other issues. Both have their original stickers on the felt bottom and are solid chalkware pieces. He is 8 1/8 inches high and the woman is 8 3/8 inches high. Both have a 4 3/8 inch diameter round bottom.
