This Jaeger Bavaria "Louise" artist signed plate is just so unique...there are no roses! As a matter of fact, in this hand painted floral decoration we have a thistle that is about to burst into full bloom, and very nicely done also. The entire surface is free of any flaws or damage to the glaze. The gilt rim only appears very slightly worn in a couple spots, and these may have been thin areas from the beginning as the plate certainly hasn't been handled much and there is no stacking wear or wear from a metal hanger. The artist, J. Stapely I believe, signed near the rim to the left of the bottom of the plant stem. The thistle is 100% hand painted, I see no transfer decoration, making the plate even a bit more unique. The plate is nine inches across and has the Jaeger mark on the reverse along with "Louise," which I believe refers to the shape. The mark dates the piece to 1902+, and I suspect the earlier part of that period, since it is completely hand decorated.
Thank you for looking.
