Arte Espanol Trophies of Lepanto Color Lithograph 1880

INFORMATION This is an outstanding example of 19th century color lithography from LaFuente’s Arte Espanol, published Madrid, circa 1880. Many of the prints from this work have vibrant, beautiful gold and silver leaf accents which were hand applied. Little is known about this work as it was acquired unbound and without a title page. The illustrations are beautiful and very collectible.

This color lithograph, ‘Trofeo De Lepanto’ is resplendent with gold leaf details. It is very detailed and when the lithograph is held up to the light, the bright metallic gold and silver touches are very beautiful. The trophies include swords, banners and helmets from The Battle of Lepanto which took place in 1571.

SIZE AND CONDITION The paper is heavy stock and the margin area is a beige color. Condition is very good and evidence of the original book binding is on the left edge. The overall size is 9” x 12 ¾”.
