This charming brooch of a very happy Dalmatian looking back as if to say, "Come on-let's go!" is in mint condition and a prime example of this designers work. Mimi di Nascemi is originally from Sicily and she attended art school in Philadelphia learning all about jewelry. She worked for Schiaparelli. Later Mimi and Scaasi created the Jewels by Scaasi line and then she worked for Brania in NY. By 1962 Mimi began her own company. Designs are inspired by nature and is not abundantly available. It lasts because it is well made and is now catching the eye of collectors.
This is signed with her name and dated 1995. Measuring 2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches wide, this is one very sculpted body with smooth thick enamel in a creamy color and very artistically placed Dalmatian spots. There is goldtone trim around the eye, ear and mouth. I especially like the painted detail on the paws. Enjoy!
