MONET Necklace-Glass Beads With Opal-esque Color-Very Vintage

Monet was founded by Jay and Michael Chernow in 1929, and called Monocraft until 1937. Monet became one of the leading costume jewelers in the 1940's with classic designs which appealed to the new class of working women continuing into the post war era. Pioneering comfortable clip-on earrings they also produced jewelry for Yves Saint Laurent in the 1980's and are still in business today.

This very chic necklace is approx 3 feet long with shimmering glass beads that have the look of opals-even casting the reddish glow that comes with good quality opals. Up close you can see pale pastel green and blue swirls in the glass. These beads are accented with smaller faux pearls and brass beads. The clasp is called a sister hook as referenced in an ad from the 1950's. There is a small Monet hang tag as well. Circa 1950's this beauty is in very good condition and will look great day or night with lots of flexibility for styling. Enjoy!
