From the venerable house of Hobe, here is one stellar demi-parure. Hobe jewelry ranks high on the list of coveted costume jewelry. Their dynamic designs over the decades were well built with a very distinctive style. In this set all the rhinestones are prong set with extremely ornate metal work built into the design. Research shows this cartouche was used between 1958 and 1983.
Regarding the earrings, I have seen identical earrings that have a narrower version of the tassel on the brooch. After examining the earrings, I think they originally came with the tassels but they have been professionally removed. The only way one can tell is to study the riveting on the back shown in one of the photos. They come with the Hobe comfort clasp and are very easy to wear. The oversized oval cut pink rhinestones are a tad bigger than the one in the brooch making the earrings fabulous!
The generous sized brooch is very ornate and multi-dimensional measuring about two inches wide and from top to bottom of the tassel three inches. The oval faceted rhinestone alone measures 3/4 quarters of an inch wide! Supporting the oversized pink rhinestone focal point are smaller brilliant cuts in purple and pinks. This can be a pendant as well. Considering the age, all three pieces are in wonderful condition, ready to keep on dazzling.
