Exquisite French Art Deco Marble, Spelter Statue Lady and Borzoi Dog c. 1925
A stunning example of what French sculptors did with rich colored marble and versatile spelter, immortalizing a beautiful woman with her faithful companion, a Borzoi dog, at her feet. The detail work is stupendous...the folds of her gold-flowered gown, the expressive look on the dog's face and the serene loveliness of the lady's face. I believe the face and hands are ivorine. Even her nails are painted red! There is a bit of age flaking to her face. We purchased her in France. No signature noted. A substantial size, she measures 14 1/2" wide, 10 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" deep. Stunning on your mantel, atop a chest of drawers, or anywhere, really!
