English White Ironstone Dessert Plate – James Edwards & Son Circa: 1842 -1851

This is a handsome English white ironstone dessert/side plate clearly back stamped with the maker's mark James Edwards & Son from the Dale Hall pottery, Burslem, England 1842 to 1851. It is also interesting to note that James Edwards was the first to export this practical and beautiful ironstone ware to the Americas beginning in 1840.

This lovely English ironstone plate weighs just about one pound, is 8 ½ inches in diameter, is in very good condition with no chips cracks or repairs and just some fine surface crazing with mild, old ironstone patina coloring expected with age and gentle use that in no way detracts from the fine presentation of the piece. We also have the mate to this plate and would be happy to consider terms for the purchase of both.

Thank you for your interest in this wonderful antique English ironstone plate and feel free to browse our Ruby Lane exclusive shop, Little River Antiques & Collectibles, for other unique and interesting treasures.
