EAPG "Ashburton Pattern" Egg Cup – Flint

This is a wonderful example of Early American Pattern Glass in the highly collectable Ashburton pattern and made of flint glass. This wonderful little cup is mold blown with a polished pontil. The delightful pattern Ashburton was made by the New England Glass Company in the mid 1800's in several different forms from egg cups, decanters, celery vases and the like. The Ashburton Pattern was also manufactured by other glass companies up until the late 1800's and is a tribute to its popularity in Victorian times.

This charming egg cup weighs 7 ounces, is 3 ½" tall, the mouth is 2 ½" and the clear base is 2 ¼ " in diameter. This lovely piece is in mint condition with no chips, flakes or repairs and has the characteristic ring of flint glass when lightly tapped.
