Early American Pattern Glass Serving Plate - Minerva/Cupid & Venus Pattern

This wonderful Early American Pattern Glass Serving Plate in the Minerva/Cupid & Venus Pattern is in very good condition. This exceptional pattern, also known as the Guardian Angel pattern, has raised Cupid and Venus figures at its center surrounded by an outline of beaded glass. Emanating from the center of the plate is a ray design followed by a wonderful geometric design along the entire inner circumference. Finally, a beautifully woven glass pattern forms the outer rim of the entire plate including the two glass handles on either side.

The serving plate measures 11 1/2" in diameter at the handles and 10 ½" at round. This plate weighs 1 pound and 12 ounces. With only minor surface wear, given its age, there are no or extra ordinary marks on this plate as it was well preserved and cared for. Two companies made this pattern: Richards and Hartley Flint Glass Company 1875-1884 and U. S. Glass Company 1891.

What a great gift or addition to your collection this serving plate would make! We currently have three of these serving plates in our inventory. Let us know if you would like one, two, or all three!
