Early American Pattern Flint Glass Compote - Minerva/Cupid & Venus Pattern

This wonderful Early American Pattern Flint Glass Compote in the Minerva/Cupid & Venus Pattern is in very fine condition. This exceptional pattern, also known as the Guardian Angel pattern, has raised Cupid and Venus figures surrounded by a beaded medallion on either side of the compote. A wonderful geometric design along the circumference of the glass connects both medallions. The rim of this compote is stippled with a glass bead found in each of the stipples. The pedestal base is simple clear glass with a thin band of etched rays at the bottom.

Two companies made this pattern: Richards and Hartley Flint Glass Company 1875-1884 and U. S. Glass Company 1891. The compote measures 3 ½" in height, is 7 1/2" in diameter, and has a 3 ¾" base. This compote weighs 1 pound and 4 ounces. There are no scratches, or extra ordinary marks on this compote as it was well preserved and cared for.

What a great gift or addition to your collection this compote would surely make!
