Antique Staffordshire Poodle – Late 1800’s

This is simply a wonderful antique Staffordshire poodle seated regally and proudly displaying his very desirable open, grey tipped front paws. This adorable Staffordshire poodle is generously decorated with applied white ceramic frits against a pure white coat, a curled bushy tail and hand painted flesh colored muzzle with black whiskers beneath gold colored eyes.

Staffordshire poodles with the open front paws are less common than the popular Staffordshire poodles modeled with closed paws and, as a result, are sought after and quite collectible. This lovely poodle is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs save for a flake to his front right paw and very minor losses to the applied ceramic frit. These minor issues are consistent with the poodle's age and in no way diminish the charm or quality of the piece. This little fellow weighs 1 pound 4.8 ounces, is 8 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide.

We also have a second, smaller Staffordshire poodle of the same vintage in a slightly different style. While not matched they complement each other beautifully and we would be happy to entertain special terms should one wish to purchase both of the poodles.

Thank you for your interest in this marvelous antique Staffordshire poodle and please feel free to browse our Ruby Lane exclusive shop, Little River Antiques & Collectibles, for other unique and exciting treasures.
