EAPG Square Compote – Portland Glass Company – “Shell and Tassel Pattern – Circa: 1860’s

This is a lovely EAPG Square Compote made by the Portland Glass Company in the "Shell and Tassel" Pattern during the 1860's. Each of the four shells serves to form the curved edge of the square compote as each of the four tassels are positioned between them.

Standing at 7 inches tall and weighing 2 pounds and 7 ounces, this is a beautiful example of the mid 1800's glass industry. The Compote is 7 ¾ inches square at the rim, sits atop a footed base, which measures 5 ¼ inches by 5 inches. Our compote is in excellent condition and is without flakes, cracks or repairs save for the expected wear on the underside of the base.
