Water Lily Majolica Pitcher Circa: Late 1800’s

This is a charming antique majolica pitcher featuring relief-molded water lilies in creamy glaze and green glazed reads against a textured cream and green glazed bulbous body. The interior of this lovely pitcher is completely glazed in a lovely pink and sports a rope - like handle in a pretty brown glaze. This fabulous piece is unsigned but is fashioned in the style of the English potter Samuel Lear around 1885.

This wonderful majolica pitcher weighs 1 pound 3.8 ounces, is 6 ¼ inches tall, the mouth is 3 inches in diameter, the base is also 3 inches in diameter and the pitcher is 6 ½ inches at its widest point inclusive of the handle. This lovely majolica pitcher is in good condition considering the age of the piece with no cracks or repairs save a minor flake on the base and rim. There is also general over all very light and expected crazing.
