Imari Porcelain Charger Foo Dog Late 19th - Early 20th Century

This is an arrestingly beautiful and unusual Imari porcelain charger most likely made during the Meiji Period spanning the years 1868 – 1912 and signed with a maker's mark we were unable to identify. This gorgeous Imari charger is exquisitely decorated in the traditional Imari colors of deep red, vibrant blues, greens and gilt. The hand painted design features a fanciful blue foo dog/dragon in the center surrounded by an chrysanthemum embellished deep red boarder adorned with scenes of gardens and boastful birds of paradise.

This stunning Imari charger is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs save some minor wear to the gilt trim on the rim from years of loving use and display. This exquisite charger weighs 4 pounds 7.6 ounces, is a impressive 15 ½ inches in diameter and is 2 inches tall. This elegant piece would make an important addition to any collection and to any home décor.
