Hand Painted Gaudy Ironstone Tazza – Circa: Mid 1800’s

This is a gorgeous example of Gaudy Ironstone made in England for the American market around the mid 1800's. The tazza has been crafted in a wonderful shape with a graceful footed base and the top accented by ornate handle on either side. This lovely tazza is hand painted with a rich, colorful and intricate design in an Oriental motif and signed with the artist's number, 6773, on the base. The base also bears a maker's mark of two embossed stars and an embossed number 4.

This remarkable Gaudy ironstone tazza weighs 1 pound 14.4 ounces, is 11 inches in diameter from hand to handle with the main body 9 inches in diameter. This fabulous piece is 2 ½ inches tall, the signed footed base is 5 inches in diameter and the piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and just a bit of glaze wear evident around the rim and expected from years of loving use.
