Here is a wonderful antique gift book with selections of poetry by Clifton Bingham (The Dear Homeland) and Ellis Walton (The Region of Rest). Both poems have spiritual context and are inspirational. Titled "The Dear Homeland" and published by Ernest Nister, this book has no copyright date but is certainly 1890's period, and there is a gift inscription inside the front cover dated Christmas 1895. There are twelve unnumbered pages and the book measures about 6.25 x 5 inches. The cover features a color litho of a pastoral scene and the tile is highlighted wit gilt accents. The spine is covered with a green cloth binding. The binding is strong and all pages are tight and secure. I doubt this book was used much at all. There is just minor shelf wear to the extremities. Inside are several beautiful color illustrations. This is a wonderful little volume for the Victorian gift book or poetry collector. It would also make a thoughtful gift.
