Vintage 40s Christmas Watercolor Stamp Art Scene by Quebec Nuns!
This is a wonderful little item with a great Christmas theme! It is a small watercolor of a little boy with his dog, a snow scene, Christmas trees, and a warm home in the distance. The boy, dog, trees, and home are made with US postal stamps (mostly 1 and 2 cents). The little watercolor is framed. On the back is stamped, "Franciscaines Missionnaires de Marie" and "388, Grand Allee, Est Quebec". The back is also inscribed. From what little research I could find, I determined that the address at 388 Grand Allee in Quebec, Canada is now a modern building. Apparently, the Franciscan Nuns in Quebec sold these as souvenirs, perhaps to make money for charity. The picture, including the frame, measures 6.75 by 5 inches. A darling little item! Good condition except for that the backing is torn. A darling little item for Christmas!
