We have offered here a magnificent Large Stein or Serving Pitcher from "Mettlach". This one is #2210 and has a bowling scene around the sides with a Terra Cotta background. It has several characters involved in outdoor activities including several bowling, drinking beer, and more. The spout has a "Gargoyle" style face and grape leaves and bottles around the neck. It has a pewter lid that has an insert with a pipe and turnips. The pitcher is 6 1/2" across the bulbous body and stands 13" to the top of the thumb lift. It originally had a mark printed over the glaze, but it has washed away over time. I have found a reference to the same motif and color for item #2211 by Mettlach which would be the matching 1/3 liter steins. This one has no chips, cracks, or other damage that I have found. It is a magnificent Mettlach piece for the serious collector.
