Magnificent Prehistoric Hard Stone Platform Pipe

We are offering here a magnificent Prehistoric Hard Stone Platform or Effigy Pipe. This one is carved from a single piece of stone with an Eagles Head forming the bowl. There is a groove on each end of the pipe, and the remnants of other engraving along the flat surfaces, which has worn from age. These pipes are typically from the Ohio Valley and date from 200 BC to about 500 AD, and are referred to as "Hopewell" Pipes. Not 100% sure of the exact origin, but the pipe matches all the descriptions and examples I have found. This one is 6 1/4" long, 1 7/8" wide, and stands 2 1/2" high. It is in very good condition for the age, with the tip of the birds beak being broken. A fabulous Prehistoric Pipe for the collector.
