Playbill:Vanderbilt Theatre 1937

This Vanderbilt Theatre Playbill is for "Excursion", a comedy by Victor Wolfson. Stars are Whitford Kane, Shirley Booth, Frances Fuller, J. Hammond Dailey, James Waters and Jennie Moscowitz who actually had a debut on stage with Sarah Moscowitz. The background of each is revealed under 'Who's who in the Cast." Ads include automobiles, after theatre clubs and cigarettes. And there are articles on what to wear.

The Vanderbilt Theatre was located at 148 West 48th Street. It was designed by architect Eugene De Rosa for producer Lyle Andrews and opened in 1918. it seated 780. Notable productions include 1919- Irene, 1926- The Girl Friend, 1926- Peggy Ann, 1927- A Connecticut Yankee, and 1935- Mulatto. It was lost by Andrews in the depression and functioned as a radio studio first for NBS then by ABC from 1939 - 1952. New shows began again in 1953, but it was demolished for a parking garage in 1954.

The booklet measures 9 1/2 x 6 3/4. It is very good condition with no tears or stains. A slight bend from being hand held and aging.
