Mushroom Chromolithograph Print Circa 1888

This beautiful mushroom study is likely from a German encyclopedia of the 19th century filled with chromolithograph prints. This process of printing was used from 1855 - 1905 and requires each color represented in the image to be applied on a separate plate. The colors layer translucently upon each other. This one is called Agaricus Gilvus and is initialed MJB. It is plate 136.

The paper measures 5 3/4(w) x 9, but the print itself is 4 1/2 x 7 1/2. It is most excellent in condition with no stains or creases. The outer border of white is very lightly aged.
