Gorham: Collector Plate: All-American Rose

The American Rose Society worked with Gorham to issue these stunning collector plates featuring award winning roses. According to my research, there are 33 plates in the series beginning in 1975, ending in 1986. Three were issued yearly including Hybrid Tea, Floribunda and Grandiflora roses in limited editions of 9800 each. The designs are from the renown artist and rosarian Luther Bookout's original paintings. Each plate is signed and has a 24 karat gold rim. The porcelain is off-white: made in the USA. I measure this plate to be 10 3/4 inches in diameter; literature calls it an 11 inch plate.

This plate is of First Edition, a floribunda. It was issued in 1977 and is the 10th issue of the series. It is numbered 4033, is in mint condition, and comes in the original styrofoam packing box. There are no papers and I believe certificates were not issued for this series. One note; the true color of this rose on this plate is a pinkish salmon - I think my photos are too orange.

These plates make wonderful gifts for the gardener and the collector, but the quality and beauty of this series also makes a collection of them appropriate for the focal point of room decor.

We are happy to answer your questions with the best of our knowledge. We invite you to visit Orphaned Treasures and enjoy the assortment of these plates and other offerings.
