Gorham: Collector Plate: All-American Rose

The American Rose Society worked with Gorham to issue these stunning collector plates featuring award winning roses. According to my research there are 33 plates in the series beginning in 1975 and ending in 1986. Three were issued each year for Hybrid Tea, Floribunda and Grandiflora roses in limited editions of 9800. The designs are from renown artist and rosarian Luther Bookout's original paintings. Each plate is signed and has a 24 karat gold rim. The porcelain is off-white: Made in the USA! I measure 10 1/2 inches in diameter- literature calls it an 11 inch plate.

This plate is of Color Magic, a hybrid tea. It was issued in 1978 and I believe it to be the 11th issue in the series. It is number 4033 and is in mint condition. It comes in its original styrofoam packing box; there are no papers with this one. I believe certificates were not issued for the series.

These plates will make wonderful gits for the gardener or collector, but the quality and beauty of these also make them appropriate as wall groupings forming the decorating focal point for a room.

Ask your questions freely. We are happy to share what we know and of course learn more. Your are invited to visit Orphaned Treasures and enjoy these plates and our other offerings.
