Art Deco Brass and Niello Etched Match Safe - Horse and Sun

This wonderfully detailed match safe is solid brass and niello. The front depicts a horse over the sun with other fine details. The back and side also show fine details etched in the body.

Very unusual.

Signed MADE IN USA

This piece probably dates from around 1910.

Take a look at the included Atlas Safety Match box. When I purchased this item the full box of matches were all there, as they remain today. They are signed Atlas Safety Matches - Made in Germany

The box is in wonderful condition for its age with beautiful lithography.
