French ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 18K Gold, Enamel & Diamond Sword Stick Pin!

AGE: C.1890 or so

ITEM: A French yellow gold stick pin/tie pin/cravat pin in the shape of a sword with an Eagle Head handle. The handle features not only white enamel but 4 faceted, old cut diamonds (tested). The group of 3 diamonds hold 2 stones that measure 1.8mm (2-1/2 points each) while the third is slightly larger at 2mm (3 points). The diamond at the base of the handle measures 2.5mm (6 points). Total carat count of the stones is therefore .14CT TW.

The sword may at one time have had a sheath to cover the blade but it is hard to say. There is wear on the pin that appears to be from moving something around and around, but it could also be from a clutch. A professional polish by a jeweler will remedy this.

There is a small jump ring that forms part of the handle. Perhaps this held the sheath or a bit of chain. Again, I am not certain of this.

CONDITION: Very nice. No problems with the enamel. No dents/dings to the gold.

METAL CONTENT: 18K gold

HALLMARKS: None - if there was a sheath to the pin, they were possibly on that piece. Gold has been acid tested for content. The top handle is more yellow gold while the pin itself is more of a pink gold.

SIZE: Length of the pin is 3-1/4". Design at the top is 1" x 1/2".

WEIGHT: 2.4 grams
