SPECTACULAR Custom Made 10K White Gold, 91.23CT TW Diamond & Amethyst Demi-Parure!

AGE: C.1950/1960 - somewhere in that time period, I believe.

ITEM: A 3 piece demi-parure consisting of a pendant/pin, a pair of earrings and a ring. All 3 pieces are white gold, feature scads of round, faceted diamonds (tested) as well as VERY LARGE, VERY DARK faceted gemstone amethysts (tested). Those are the basics, here are the particulars.....

THE PENDANT/PIN

Featuring a diamond encrusted bale, the pin/pendant also has a trombone closure to hold the pinstem in place. Measuring 2-1/4" long (from top of bale to bottom) x 1-1/4", the pendant is meant to be worn below the bustline as the pinstem at the back does interfere with the way the pendant lies if you want it close to your neck.

The pendant holds 21 diamonds measuring 2.4mm each (5 points) for a total diamond count of 1.05 carats. The amethyst at the center measures 30mm x 20mm (55 carats).

Weight of the piece is 25.2 grams.

THE EARRINGS

Measuring 7/8" across/high, the earrings have clipback mechanisms that hold tightly.

Each earring holds 16 diamonds measuring 1.5mm (.015 pts - for a total of .24CT) as well as 1 faceted round amethyst measuring 13mm (8.25 CT). Total diamond count for the pair of earrings is 32 weighing .48CT TW. Amethyst count is 2 for a total weight of 16.50CT TW.

Weight of the earrings is 16.3 grams combined.

THE RING

The ring size is 5. The design on top measures 1" x 7/8" approx.

The ring holds 24 diamonds measuring 1.5mm (.015pts - for a total of .36CT TW) as well as 1 faceted oval amethyst measuring 15mm x 20mm (16.84 Carats).

Weight of the ring is 15.1 grams.

TOTAL GEMSTONE COUNT:

Diamond = 2.89 Carats

Amethyst = 88.34 Carats

All sizes are estimates and have not been removed from their settings. So total is perhaps a little more, maybe a little less but overall, I think I'm pretty correct on sizing.

OVERALL: The amethyst stones are all of the same hue - DARK purple with no visible inclusions - GEMSTONE quality (my pics have really diffused the coloring of the stones - the pics make them appear washed-out when they are brilliantly colored with a deep hue)! The diamonds are all clear and sparkly and are of the same whiteness throughout. Grading would probably come in at VSI1-2 with color of G.

The metal content of the set was professionally assayed by NTR Metals of St. Louis and the assay came out as 44.2% gold, 37.9% silver, 9.3% palladium. In essence, the amalgam of metals equals just a bit over 10K gold (41.7% is 10K).

There are no hallmarks on any of the pieces - since the set was custom made the prior owner knew what they were getting.

The set is stunning and is sure to please some lucky lady. More photographs are available if more need to be seen.
